Backpacks with Wheels
Most people don't consider a need for wheels on a backpack since the bag is designed to ride
on your back comfortably. But if your bag is large and you routinely stuff it full, that backpack will be quite heavy in no time at all. In
travel situations, or if you have a long trek across campus you may wish you could drag it along the ground instead of torturing your back. If
you had a backpack with wheels you could do that.
These backpacks have pull out handles and wheels just like a rolling duffle bag or standard suitcase. It's most useful and more common on
larger packs and hiking bags. Prices range from $50-$200 depending on the brand, size and features. They come with the usual exterior pockets,
and they all have an internal frame structure to support the bag while being rolled across the ground. This provides additional support for the
contents inside and protects them a little more.
Reviewers who gave it 5 star ratings have stated, "My daughter is petite for her age and also has scolosis so carrying a heavy back pack is
not an option. This item is great for older kids who have lots of books and either have a back problem or physical disability and can't carry a
backpack." and "I needed a backpack with wheels as I was a nursing student and couldn't carry all that we needed to carry. I found this online
and loved it. It's a nice color, wheels are sturdy and I could drag it practically anywhere. I got a dark color as I was afraid of getting it
dirty in the winter, but many pretty colors were offered." They were talking about the model made by Jansport.
I can see where this would be hugely beneficial if you're a college or graduate student with a lot of textbooks. You wouldn't want a duffle
bag in this case, you'd still want the convenience of a backpack but with the back saving ability to roll it on its wheels. Anyone with a
physical limitation and had trouble carrying even a lighter bag would also benefit from this.
