Rolling Duffle Bags

One of the neater inventions on the market today is the rolling duffle bag. In the choice between the regular stiff suitcase and a duffle bag I tend to go with the duffle as much as I can because it's sportier, has more outside pockets and is flexible. The straps make it easy to carry across rugged terrian and it makes me feel like an athlete. However, there are times when a bag with wheels would be more convenient. Every time I'm in a big airport and have to go from one gate to another, I need wheels. Whenever there's a long hike from the parking lot to the hotel room, I need a bag with wheels. The answer is now rolling duffle bags.

The only real drawback I can see is the soft sides wouldn't be ideal for carrying items that need to be protected by a stiff outer shell. Otherwise I say the duffle is the winner hands down.

They also make these that can double as a backpack. Obviously that would only apply to sizes which are managable on your back, something not overbearing when it's full. One of the most popular is a 36" drop bottom wheeled duffle bag that has hidden padded backpack straps. They can be pulled out when necessary and stored when not. A center divider going lengthwise seperates the top from the bottom in cases when the bag is vertical (creating two vertical sections, front and back). When horizontal in the duffle position you can open that divider to have one large space.
